The JVP lodged a complaint with the Defense secretary against ex President Mahinda Rajapakse’s son Yoshitha Rajapakse based on allegations of fraud , corruption and malpractices committed in relation to the naval force.

Yoshitha was recruited as a special cadet officer to the navy illegally the JVP has alleged because for such appointments , the candidate should have a GCE advanced level certificate in science subjects , whereas Yoshitha does not have that qualification and has not completed his GCE examination in science subjects. Moreover, after giving him a naval training at Trincomalee naval camp , he was awarded a scholarship to be trained in Britain by preparing false progress reports in regard to him, which award whereas should truly go to the genuinely best cadet officer.

When Yoshitha returned to Sri Lanka having failed in scholarship exam , he was again sent on scholarship to Britain.

Besides , he has been engaged in politics of Nil Balakaya , and has become an owner of a private channel which are absolutely illegal.

The defense secretary to whom the complaint loaded with many grave charges was made by a JVP team including western provincial councilor Nalinda Jayatissa , had assured the JVP that he would call for a report on this from the Navy commander .

In any event , since the present navy commander Jayantha Perera is Yoshitha’s relative, doubts are being harbored whether a genuine investigation will be made into this.
